Reflection

BRICK WALLS + glass ceilings was curated and set up almost solely by the students and teachers. By whitewashing the walls, filling nail holes, and deciding the height of the paintings to hang, I felt a deep connection to the entire space. However, the discussions with fellow artists in the same room about setting up the show could not be described as easy. Everyone loves their work and has their own ideas, and everyone must learn to compromise in the end. The result came out satisfying and gave me great knowledge and experience.

Church / Factory, which has just ended, was a multi-disciplinary postgraduate exhibition in a variety of media that made the space visually rich and exciting. Works being surrounded by unfamiliar pieces also allowed me to dialogue with my work from a new position in this show. This chemistry is something that is not found in group exhibitions with familiar friends.

The exhibition was curated by professional curators and all we needed to do was to provide the works selected. The curators have the eyes of strangers, the process and research of the works are secondary to the sensitivity they find to the visual elements that better be presented in the space. In the short meetings with the curators before the show, they were friendly and efficient.
